Chocolate Pack for Morrowind is an attempt to compile the greatest mods ever created for Morrowind into one package, with a very strict rule that no mod may distort the feel of vanilla Morrowind. This pack is a modular collection that can be installed piece-by-piece using Wrye Mash. All of the mods work well together, but you are free to add your own customizations.
A complete list of mods can be found at the bottom of this post.
It is my hope that Chocolate Pack will provide a great starting point for players who want to experience an improved Morrowind with OpenMW when it is finished.
I’m currently stuck playing Morrowind in an ultrabook, which limits my ability to take good screenshots. If you have a nice graphics card and would like to send me some screenshots, I’d appreciate it.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is not only one of my favourite games–it is a game that has enchanted many, many people with its alien world and incredibly deep story and characters. It is considered by many to be the best of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls titles.
When the game was released in May 2002, it shipped with the Elder Scrolls Construction Set, a tool that allowed players to change and enhance the game however they saw fit. Changes were distributed in the form of mods which altered textures, models, and text, adding new items or tweaking the balance of existing ones.
With great modding capabilities came a great deal of not-so-good mods, and, inevitably, there were a number of mods that added guns to the game, or made characters look like Angelina Jolie, or turned swords into light sabers, or even added naked elves. However, among all the slop, a number of well-thought-out, beautifully crafted mods were created.
In 2010, I set out to compile a number of the best Morrowind mods–mods that added to or enhanced the world without breaking its immersion or original style. I compiled the mods into a packaged I called ‘Oggumogoggum’s Morrowind Mod Compilation’, and I released it on the Something Awful Forums.
Chocolate Pack is the continuation of that effort, incorporating more changes and updates to the mods included in the pack. This pack compiles the best of twelve years of Morrowind modding.
